Living Shoreline at Work

June 25, 2010

BayLand just completed a 1,000 foot living shoreline project along the Chesapeake Bay Dennis Point in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Within days, the shoreline was covered with dozens of horseshoe crabs, sandpipers, ospreys and other wildlife. The project owners, the Dennis Point Homeowners’ Association, are very happy with the results.

BayLand provided planning, permitting, design and construction management services. The living shoreline included tidal marshes protected by segmented stone sills. The project was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
